The Young - Williams Animal Center is acutely aware that the birth rate of companion animals is grossly disproportionate to the homes available for them, a situation that has produced enormous suffering for millions of abandoned animals and many more that are impounded or destroyed.
The Young - Williams Animal Center therefore requires that all dogs and cats, male and female, placed by our shelter be spayed or neutered at as early an age as is humane and appropriate. Further, the Animal Center will encourage all care givers to have dogs and cats with whom they are already living spayed or neutered to prevent the needless waste of unwanted life.
