Board of Directors
Through a cooperative agreement between the City and the County, a non-profit corporation, governed by a board of directors, has been created to oversee the day-to-day activities of the Young-Williams Animal Center.
The board and staff members of the Animal Center focus on adoptions and educational programs, especially the importance of spaying and neutering pets to prevent animal overpopulation.
Appointment of Board Members
The Board consists of eleven (11) members. Five (5) members are appointed by the Mayor, with majority approval of the City Council. Four (4) members are appointed by the county Mayor, with majority approval of the County Commission. One (1) member is appointed by the County Commission and the final member (1) is appointed by the Knoxville Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Terms are for three years. Members can serve no more than two consecutive terms.

Meetings Schedule
The board meets monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Young-Williams Center. Meetings are open to the public. Please contact the Young-Williams Animal Center Executive Assistant at 865-215-6664 to schedule attendance.
2009 Board of Directors and Executive Committee Schedule
All meetings will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Young-Williams Animal Center in the Community Room the second Tuesday of each month.
